The Higher Certificate in Project Management NQF5 (Operations/General Management) will provide students with an industry-focused vocational skillset that focuses on the set of tools and techniques used for the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing of projects, which are applicable across a range of various problem domains. The qualification will enhance work readiness and provide entry into the field. A Project Manager applies knowledge of project management to achieve project objectives in a specific field of application.

 

Students will be introduced to various management processes relevant to effective project management in any environment. At the end of this module, students should have a comfortable grasp of risk management, supply chain management and operation management with an in-depth understanding of the critical variables, definitions and execution requirements of each.

On successful completion of the PPM, suitable candidates may be eligible to apply for the professional designation of Project Manager (PM) conferred by Project Management South Africa (PMSA).   • National Certificate (Vocational), NQF Level 4, granting access to Higher Certificate studies, OR
  • Senior Certificate, NQF Level 4 without Matriculation exemption, OR
  • Relevant qualification, NQF Level 4 in a cognate field of study OR
  • Foundation Programme (Business, Project Management & Entrepreneurship), OR
  • Recognition of prior learning through an RPL process

This qualification is also aimed at contributing towards the skills development of project management practitioners in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), in alignment with the requirements of the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA).     This module requires students to demonstrate their ability to integrate and apply various skills and knowledge learnt during the year to complete, under limited supervision, a project task in a small team. The problem will be tailored to the specialisation area of the students in the project team.
