Overview

Early childhood group environment has a very crucial role in a child’s learning and development. Young children are in the process of rapid brain development and it is important that a safe and engaging environment is created to enhance development.

ACCREDITED TO UNIT STANDARD IDs: 244462, NQF LEVEL 5, 5 CREDITS

Prerequisites

  • Learners must be competent in Communication at NQF Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Recommended that learners have an understanding of childhood development.

Course Accreditations

This course is accredited with ETDP Seta and each learner will have to submit a Portfolio of Evidence after the training, upon being deemed competent, the learner will receive a Certicate of Competence.

  • Learners will be able to demonstrate an understanding of key principles and values for working with adults, families and communities.
  • Assisting families to provide an environment conducive for development of young children.

Important Notes

  • Students are to be at the training venue by 08h00 in preparation for a 08h30 start time.
  • Learnfast retains the right to change this calendar without any notification.
  • Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of the proof of payment or an official company purchase order for the full amount of the training.
  • For full day courses Learnfast will supply you with the relevant training material. A desktop computer to use for the training (where applicable), tea/coffee and a full lunch for full day InClass training hosted at Learnfast only. Catering is not included for OnSite training and laptop is available for hire at an additional cost if required.
  • Cancellation or rescheduling requests must be in writing and reach us via fax or email at least 5 (five) working days prior to the course commencement date. Full course fees may be retained for no shows or requests within 5 working days prior to commencement.
  • Although we go to great lengths to ensure that all training proceeds as scheduled, Learnfast reserves the right to cancel or postpone dates if we require to do so and undertake to inform clients in writing and telephonically of these changes.
  • Learnfast suggests clients wait until a week prior to course commencement that a course has been confirmed to go ahead as scheduled before booking flight and accommodation. Learnfast is NOT responsible for cost associated with cancellation of classes such as flight and accommodation for clients.

  • Ethics, behaviour and attitudes demonstrated are consistent with open, participatory, community development approaches. 

 

Assist families to provide an environment conducive for development of young children. 

  • Conducting a needs survey, including home visits. 
  • Providing assistance to access social services, health care and other resources in collaboration with social partners. 
  • Creating awareness about child development and how to promote it, taking into account various child-rearing practices. 
  • Families are supported through a variety of strategies, including conversation, active-listening, feedback and general capacity building activities. 
  • Support for adults is in line with adult education principles. 
  • Raise awareness of needs and rights of young children and the role of families and the community in relation to child development and upholding children's rights.
