Welcome to the Assessor learning programme where you will learn how to judge whether another person is competent or not yet competent within a certain field.  

 

The Assessor Skills Programme is a comprehensive SAQA unit standard-based course that covers best practice standards of assessing outcomes-based learning. Learn how to conduct assessments in your own area of expertise. This generic assessor unit standard is for those who assess people for their achievement of learning outcomes in terms of specified criteria using pre-designed assessment instruments.  

 

On completion of this training programme, the learner will be able to conduct assessments within their fields of expertise.

  • Course Prerequisites

    It is assumed that the learner:

    • has no previous assessment experience.
    • has knowledge and experience in their field of expertise, which is usually also the field that they will assess.

In Class or Virtual Class Based Learning

A technology mediated delivery method allowing campus based class or virtual class attendance, or a combination of both. Classes can be in the form of lecture based or mentored based.

 

Mentored Online Learning

A technology mediated, self paced online delivery method with personal mentorship.

  • Certificate of Competency from ETDP SETA upon successful completion of the PoE process (Moderated and found competent)

Important Notes

  • Learners to arrive at the training venue from 08:00 in preparation for 08:30 starting time
  • Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of the proof of payment or an official company purchase order.
  • For full day, on campus courses, Learnfast will supply you with a computer to use for training (if applicable) & tea/coffee and a full lunch. Catering is not included for On-Site training and laptops are available for hire at an additional cost if required.
  • Cancellation or rescheduling requests must be in writing and reach us via email at least 5-10 working days prior to the course commencement date. Full course fees will be retained for no shows.
  • Virtual learners are required to have a stable internet connection & a working headset available for sound purposes.
  • Learners who use their own laptops are fully responsible to ensure that administration rights, software installations, etc. are working sufficiently prior to training.
  • Learnfast reserves the right to cancel or postpone dates if we require to do so and undertake to inform clients in writing and telephonically of these changes.
  • Learnfast is not responsible for costs associated with cancellation of classes such as flight and accommodation for clients.

Module 2: Prepare for assessments

After completing this module, the candidate-assessor will be able to prepare resources needed for assessments.

  • Carry out all pre-assessment moderation requirements
  • Explain assessment details to learners
  • Seek inputs from learners

Module 3: Conduct Assessments

After completing this lesson, the candidate-assessor will be able to conduct assessments by using assessment practices that promote effective, fair and safe assessment.

Module 4: Provide Feedback on Assessments

After completing this lesson, the candidate-assessor will be able to provide feedback on assessments to relevant parties in an appropriate sequence and withing agreed timeframes.
