This learning programme is intended for all persons who need to describe the relationship of junior management to other roles. This Unit Standard specifies the knowledge and skills required to understand the relationship between junior management and other management roles in the organisation. The second part of this programme is intended for all persons who need to apply leadership concepts in a work context. This Unit Standard will be useful to learners, working in all sectors of the economy, community organisations or Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). It will enable learners to gain insight into the role of leadership within a work context, and thus providing them with the skills and knowledge to add value to their job.

Students are to be at the training venue by 08h00 in preparation for a 08h30 start time.

Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of the proof of payment or an official company purchase order for the full amount of the training.

For full day courses Learnfast will supply you with the relevant training material. A desktop computer to use for the training (where applicable), tea/coffee and a full lunch for full day InClass training hosted at Learnfast only. Catering is not included for OnSite training and laptop is available for hire at an additional cost if required.

Cancellation or rescheduling requests must be in writing and reach us via fax or email at least 5 (five) working days prior to the course commencement date. Full course fees may be retained for no shows or requests within 5 working days prior to commencement.

Although we go to great lengths to ensure that all training proceeds as scheduled, Learnfast reserves the right to cancel or postpone dates if we require to do so and undertake to inform clients in writing and telephonically of these changes.

Module 2: Differentiate between the concepts of leadership and management
- Differentiate the concepts of leadership and management using examples
- Explain the circumstances when a team leader manages and leads with examples from the work context
Module 3: Apply leadership techniques to individuals and teams within the work context
- Identify various theories of leadership according to theory and practice
- Diagnose the leadership approach of the team according to individual needs and organisational requirements
- Implement leadership techniques in order to improve group dynamics and achieve objectives
Module 4: Evaluate the impact of the leadership techniques applied
- Measure the impact of leadership techniques against organisational requirements
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the techniques against theory and practice
- Take corrective actions, where appropriate, to improve the effectiveness of the individual or team
Module 5: Management structures in an organization
- Investigate different types of management structures and illustrate it in organograms
- Explain the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of management structures according to type, size and type of entity
- Identify the management structure in own organisation and analyse it in relation to the different types of management structures
Module 6: Relationship between various management roles
- Explain management roles with examples from own workplace
- Explain the relationship between the various management roles with reference to own organisational context
- Explain the role of the junior manager in managing own area of responsibility within the organisational context
- Explain the interaction between a junior manager's own area of responsibility and other functions according to the organisational context
